STUDENT TRIBUNAL POOL

Description:

Appointed undergraduate students to the student tribunal pool will work alongside the Office of Student Tribunals on several student tribunal hearings.

The Office of Student Tribunals is responsible for hearings provided for in the Code of Rights and Responsibilities, the Academic Code of Conduct, the Academic Re-eveluation Procedure, the Graduate Academic Appeals Procedures and any other Codes or Policies that may be adopted which refer to the Tribunal Hearing Pools.

Eligibility requirement to serve on the Student Tribunal Pool, in accordance with Policy BD-6. Students shall be registered in an undergraduate or graduate program and be in acceptable academic standing. Students who have been sanctioned under the Code of Rights and Responsibilities or the Academic Code of Conduct within the three (3) years previous to their nomination are not eligible.

Students appointed to the Student Tribunal Pool will be called upon to serve on the hearing panels provided for in the Code of Rights and Responsibilities, the Academic Code of Conduct, the Academic Re-evaluation Procedures or the Graduate Academic Appeals Procedures.

Appointments are for a two-year term.  There are thirteen (13) undergraduate student positions currently opened in the Student Tribunal Pool.

Deputy Electoral Officer (DEO) For Loyola Campus

Salary/Hourly Rate:  $14.25/hour, 10 hours a week


Description/Scope:
It is the Deputy Electoral Officer’s job to aid the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) and help ensure that elections run fairly and smoothly.

Responsibilities:
– To uphold the regulations as stated in the CSU Bylaws and Standing Regulations
– To help the CEO ensure the integrity and independence of the electoral process
– To carry out all of the CEO’s directives when carrying out of the regulations
– To help the CEO receive and examine transmitted reports
– To help the CEO inquire into the legitimacy of election expenses of the candidates and of referendum expenses
– To help the CEO in the archiving of election results.
– To help the CEO give public access to information, reports, returns or documents related to the regulations
– To help organzine information meetings for the benefit of candidates and reform committees
– To help train the elections officers
– To carry out any other directives from the C.E.O for the elections

Essential Requirement(s):
– Must be an undergraduate student
– Be registered for courses in the fall term
– Be able to take initiative and work independently
– Must be available full day on November 28, 29, and 30
– Must be able to work at Loyola Campus
– Must be authorized to work in Canada (valid SIN card required)

Election Polling Clerks/Ballots Counters

Salary/Hourly Rate:  11.25$/hour


Description/Scope:
The Concordia Student Union is currently hiring polling clerks for an upcoming by-election taking place November 28, 29, and 30 2017

Responsibilities:
– Verify eligibility of voters.
– Monitor the voting areas.
– Help students with voting procedures on the days of the elections.

Essential Requirement(s):
– Must speak English fluently.
– Must be able to work in groups.
– Must be comfortable with addressing a crowd.
– Must be a registered Concordia student.
– Must be available to work anytime between 8:30AM and 8:00PM between November 28 and 30, and overnight on November 30 2017.
– Must attend a mandatory clerk training two weeks before the elections.
– Must provide a valid SIN.
– Must be computer literate.

Asset(s):
-Experience in CSU elections.

Receptionist

Salary/Hourly Rate:  $16.47/hr, 8 to 15 hours a week


Responsibilities:
– Greet students coming into the CSU office in a polite and pleasant manner, and provide detailed information about the CSU (including its services, campaigns, events, projects, and the Student Health and Dental coverage), and general information about university and affiliates services. Answer in-person, over the phone and email enquiries, and refer on as appropriate.
– Accept requisition forms, special project & bursary applications, space reservation request, club registrations, and various other documents, ensure completeness of information, and forward to the appropriate executive and staff.
– Approve postings according to established guidelines and inform students of current postering policy.
– Send faxes, distribute mail and packages, and maintain inventory of materials and supplies for the office.
– Update documents in reserve for the general public and CSU executives and staff. Photocopy and collate documents for distribution.
– Sell event tickets and promotional items. Maintain petty cash box.
– Assist executives, staff and student groups with booking meeting rooms and information booths.
– Keep oneself informed as to what is currently going on within the organization.
– Keep oneself informed of relevant university and CSU’s policies and procedures.

Essential Requirement(s):
– Excellent spoken English skills and fluent French conversational skills
– Punctual and patient with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
– General knowledge of Concordia University and the CSU
– Good research skills
– Must be able to work independently with low supervision and as part of a team
– Be able to work at Loyola
– Computer literate, knowledge of Excel and Internet Explorer
– Must be authorized to work in Canada (valid SIN card required)
– Must be a full-time undergraduate student at Concordia University
– Internal candidates shall have preference according to the Collective Agreement

Asset(s):
– Experience providing front-line service in a fast-paced environment
– Strong knowledge of Excel
– Approved into the Work Study program
